Callan Johnson
Originally from South Africa, Dr. Callan Johnson moved to North America to pursue her passion for veterinary medicine, earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2024 from the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Following graduation, she completed Veterinary Emergency Group’s New ER Doctor Training Program in Clifton, New Jersey, before relocating to Massachusetts, where she continued practicing as an emergency veterinarian.
With a strong passion for caring for both pets and their families during some of their most difficult moments, Dr. Johnson was drawn to the opportunity to provide continued care for critically ill patients requiring specialty-level treatment. She joined the Emergency & Critical Care Department at MVRH in early 2026, where she enjoys working alongside specialists and caring for complex and critically ill patients.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Johnson shares her home with three very special pets: Thula, a rescued Border Collie who was her very first surgery patient; Cyrus, a handsome Ragdoll cat; and Ember, a three-legged street cat whom Dr. Johnson performed an amputation on and ultimately foster-failed.
