Dr. Merchant is a Massachusetts native growing up in Dartmouth. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. She completed her veterinary training at Ross University in St. Kitts and finished her coursework at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine for clinical training. After graduation she completed a 1 year rotating internship at The Animal Medical Center in Manhattan. Since finishing her internship she has been practicing solely emergency medicine in Connecticut and looks forward to continuing her career in Massachusetts.

Carolyn has a special interest in clinical pathology as well as oncology. She has two pets at home – a staffordshire terrier named Ruby and a cat named George. She is an avid baker, loves being outdoors and you can oftentimes find her at a yoga class somewhere on the north shore!
