Dr. Troxel is a board-certified veterinary neurologist at Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital in Woburn, MA. He obtained his veterinary degree from Iowa State University in 1999. Following this, he completed a general rotating internship at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital and an internal medicine specialty internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists. He then completed a medical neurology and neurosurgery residency at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 2004. He has been at Mass Vet since 2005. He became board-certified in 2004 and obtained a neurosurgery certificate of training.

In addition to his love of neurology and neurosurgery. He is also interested in the use of technology to better care for patients and their owners and to improve efficiency in the veterinary clinic. Additionally, Dr. Troxel loves to teach and is a computer geek. He works part-time as a Veterinary Learning & Development Specialist for VetBloom, an online veterinary continuing education website. He has also created an online veterinary neurology and neurosurgery textbook and blog (neuropetvet.com).

Dr. Troxel is a member of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Veterinary Neurosurgical Society, American Veterinary Medical Association, Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association, and the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management. Dr. Troxel frequently lectures at local, regional and national meetings to veterinarians, students, and technicians. His clinical interests include canine & feline brain tumors, neurosurgery, and vestibular dysfunction.
